Divination and Augury: a way of looking at the symbols that are present and active in our lives.
I like to use these Augury methods on their own or to supplement an Astrological reading, for a full spectrum picture. Using a system of "eclectic augury," drawing upon one or more of the resources below, I am able to provide an even bigger network of symbols to help reflect the events that are occurring in your life...

Tarot
The origins of the tarot deck are rather mysterious and highly debated, but we do know that the earliest surviving deck comes from Italy in the 1400s: The Marseille Deck. Tarot cards eventually became our modern "playing card" deck, with the exclusion of the 22 Major Arcana cards. In these Major Arcana cards, we see a reflection of the "hero's journey," and the archetypes that one can expect to meet or embody along the way. I look at Tarot as an incredible tool for self-reflection and self-discovery, especially when used in conjunction with other methods of augury. What images are speaking to you right now? What energies and archetypes are present in your life? In my many years as a tarot reader, I have relied on these ancient symbols to guide me and others in all facets of life.

Intuitive Readings
Working with an intuitive approach, often in conjunction with other methods of Augury, can help bring even greater clarity to the question or problem at hand. Part of the intuitive method that I use involves dreamwork and journeying, by which I may receive images that prove pertinent. The images that appear will often have symbolic meaning, much like tarot images or astrological images, that we can explore together. I have had over a decade's experience studying dreams, and can also help you find ways to look at your own dream images.

I-Ching
The I-Ching is perhaps the most ancient form of augury still surviving in tact today. The 64 hexagrams provide a complete image of the cosmos, and have been used as guiding symbols for the Chinese for eons. Using the I-Ching enhances any reading, especially when the question is specific and set within a certain period of time. Once upon a time, the augurs of ancient China used yarrow sticks, but today we use coins which are tossed six times to give us the six changing and unchanging lines of the hexagram. This hexagram, and the one produced by the changing lines, are interpreted according to ancient and modern texts which represent over 3000 years of study.

Astrological Dice
With perfectly calculated odds, these dice can be thrown to add clarity to what astrological planets, signs, or houses are being activated right now, or what symbolic energies are at play in any inquiry. They are wonderful when used in conjunction with natal chart readings, but can be used just as well for any question. One way I like to use them personally is by asking general questions: "What is the energy of this evening?" "What energy is most beneficial for me to focus on in the next few weeks?" (etc.) By applying the sign, planet, or house that's been rolled to the birth chart, one can see not just what that energy means in general (ie, Venus signifying love, the feminine, beauty, etc.) but what it means to the particular chart (what Venus means specifically according to the chart at question, where it lies in the chart).

The Augur's Crux (or Augur's Wheel)
This strangely-named apparatus (not yet pictured) is a sort of "wheel of fortune" containing all 360 degrees of the zodiac, all the planets, signs, houses, the 64 hexagrams of the I-Ching and even the symbols of the Kabbalah. Before I spin the wheel, we refine the question and determine what system we are using, then the question is written on a piece of paper and put in the magnetic center of the wheel, and off we go! One of the most effective ways of using this brilliant device is to spin for an astrological degree (one of the 360) and then use the matching Sabian Symbol (a set of symbols that match the 360 degrees of the zodiac) to interpret the answer. The Augur's Crux makes a great addition to parties and tarot events, and can add extra clarity for any reading.
